Tour 10 Gloucestershire

Oxleaze Farm

The burgeoning borders have just the right balance of early and late-flowering shrubs, summer perennials, and box. Informal garden rooms, lead from the lawn, combining formality and informality which, with a vegetable and cut-flower potager, decorative fruit cage, bees in the wildflower meadow, pond and bog garden, results in a ‘manageable microcosm’.

The Manor and Pindrup House

The garden slopes down to the River Coln and the old drive has been converted into a tunnel walk, covered in roses, Clematis and vines. The terrace outside the house is arranged with topiaried box and yew, softened by lavender. We shall also visit a garden, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, where lushly-planted perennials surround the rose-clad house.

Langford Downs Farm

The garden is comparatively new, the house was built only in 2009. There is a lovely contrast between the long horn beam-hedged vistas running across the garden and the generous open lawn in front of the rose and wisteria-covered house, which sits in the middle of wide densely-planted mixed borders.
